Personal Best

I wish I could tell you about being my personal best as a mother, wife, or friend. Unfortunately, this is not the case. But while I am working on that, let me tell you about my new personal half-marathon record . I am definitely NOT a friend of road running races. Especially not in Utah, where they all tend to be more or less downhill. That said, I was still really excited to run in the Salt Lake 1/2 marathon for a few reasons: I got a complimentary race entry from the SLRC . How could I pass up a free race? My friend Carlee was racing. I love racing with friends. Friday night was like a girls' night out and Saturday was a party! Flat and/or downhill = fast . And that's always fun! I want my life back

Tonight at dinner Karl says: "I think we should just let Mama go to bed so she can read all night and hopefully finish her book." That is how we all feel. This is why I try to avoid reading books. I can't stop. I am reading while looking at books with Max. I am reading while we are having family dinner. I am reading while brushing my teeth. I am reading while Karl is talking to me. I am reading although I am supposed to be cleaning the kitchen floor. I am reading on my bike. I am driving myself (and my family) crazy . It's only been 2 days. I have 200 pages to go. I may have to return the book before I am done. I am not sure we will make it. Why am I like this? I am an all-or-nothing kind of person. Not in all things, but in a lot. I read 24/7 or not at all. I eat all the cookies or none. I take exercising to an extreme. I hate leaving things unfinished. I think it has to do with one of my mom's favorite sayings: Either you do something right or you don't d...

SufferFest

My first time on Antelope Island. It is really pretty! What better way to kick off the 2010 season than the Buffalo 25k on beautiful trails with your husband and 2 great friends? I can't think of any ... Karl was signed up to run the 50km but had been injured for a few weeks. He was going to give it a try anyway and drove up early with a friend. For me, the fun started as soon as I got in the car with Carlee and Jen . I love driving to races with friends. Carlee and Jen were very entertaining and made the drive go by really fast. As soon as we got on Antelope Island we ran into some b uf falo . Ok, not really. They were just on the side of the road. But we, especially Carlee, were a little, or much, concerned about running into them during the race. No worries, though. The race director had briefed us on how to behave in case of a close Buffalo encounter. He did not, however, warn us about all the buffalo droppings on the ground. Racing Season '09 Second Part

Disclaimer: This post has been driving me crazy. It is too late, too long, too braggy, and boring. But it is what it is and I had to do it in order to move on. So bear with me... Before reporting about my first race of this season, I need to wrap up last season. I started this post in December and it has been waiting to be published ever since. Well, all I really did then was upload the pictures. I figure that whatever memories of each race have stuck with me this long, might be the only ones worth mentioning anyway. Really what I should have done is analyze each race in detail, look at the training, nutrition, times, etc. But how much fun would that be? I will save that for when I am a Pro. Haha.
