Wonder Woman Ride

If I were in Utah on September 18th,
this is what I would be doing:

It is a beautiful ride in and around Payson
created by women for women.

If you don't feel up for 100 miles,
you can do 30 or 70.

Here is why it is going to be awesome
and why you will love it:

there are going to be a lot of fun, amazing ladies to mingle with
my coach, Mahogani, is one of the best race organizers
great swag
September is pretty much the best month for biking
finish line with great food, music, and surprises
a mascot in costume
super cute finisher's necklace

these really darling earrings

I really should not even have started this post.
Now I am even more sad I won't be there.

Believe me,
you don't want to miss out on this party!
These women will have thought of
everything to spoil you!

As I am writing this post
I chatted with one of the volunteers, Marci Simons,
and she let me in on some fun secrets
regarding the event.
So,
(if you are a woman)
do me a favor and sign up, will ya?
Carlee? Jessica? Heather? Jen?

New PR at a High Cost

St. George Halfmarathon Report I have a feeling that this is going to be long . Even though I am going to tell you about the rest of the weekend in my next post. So. Sit back and enjoy, if you are interested. A few days before the race, I told Karl that I have two options : 1. Run the way I usually race. Conservative . Start out at a decent pace, log negative splits, finish feeling strong and in control. 2. Start out faster than usual, hang onto that pace for as long as possible, die a slow and painful death. Karl just laughed . He knew how unlikely it was that I would choose the second option. But, to be honest, the idea kinda grew on me. It was a running event, after all. No pressure. Simply a way of testing where my fitness is at. On my way to St. George, I called Coach M . She told me I was going to choose the second option. Oh, how I love to have coaches! No need to try to figure things out in my own little head. I just ask and do as I am told. There was ju...

I am so lucky

I feel the need to write. My thoughts are all jumbled. Can I make sense of them on paper? Writin g gives me perspective and makes it easier to let go. Last weekend I was very frustrated, mad, self-centered, unhappy , wallowing in self-pity. This weekend I was more balanced, a little more patient, trying to be less selfish, happy . How did it happen? I have had to deal with myself for almost 30 years now and, luckily, have figured out a few things on the way. Like how to feel at peace with myself , my family , my life . It shouldn't be complicated to be happy in my circumstances. I realize that. But sometimes it still is. Sometimes being a mom and wife doesn't come easy to me. Sometimes I think everyone would be better off if I wasn't a mom and wife. Sometimes I wish it was easier to just take off and do nothing but swimbikeruneatsleep for a week or two. It's not helping that my German teammates are doing just that. Right now. On a beautiful island. In the warm...

RAGE Race Report

Alright . Here it is. First triathlon race report of the season. Wow. Did you know that I love racing triathlons? Truth is: I used to not like it very much. Now I do! Racing breaks up the monotony of training and I am enjoying tapering and recovering more these days. I must be getting old... I was still not feeling well on Friday but (like I said in the last post) I was really looking forward to getting away for 24 hours - racing or no racing. The 3.5 hour drive went by super quick thanks to my friend Karen who happens to be awesome. We had lots to chat about and I got a much-needed dose of adult conversation. Packet pick-up was rather uneventful . Except for a big 31 on my left calf. I am getting old... No long-lost friends to catch up with and not many Utah peeps. Instead, I found plenty of questions to ask the race director and visited the PowerTri booth. Coach and I talked about switching to the Olympic distance race but I decided no to. It is pretty crazy what a big drop in ...
