Discover Your Happy - Weekend Getaway and Salt Lake Marathon

One of my favorite running websites, Discover Your Happy ,  is doing another awesome giveaway here !  A 2-night-stay at The Radisson Downtown in Salt Lake City  plus 2 entries to the Salt Lake City Half Marathon or 5k How cool is that?  I ran the Salt Lake City Half Marathon in 2010  and even found the race report I wrote back then.  It's definitely a race I would love to go back to!  Either way you should check out their website for all things related to running and fitness.  I personally know 2 of the 3 ladies running the show at Discover Your Happy  and they are awesome chicks!  Love them!

Tales from Today

fun ride with friends in St. George Today didn't start out too well. Actually, this whole week has been a drag . I am trying to figure out which of the following to blame: being back at altitude, PMS, some sort of minor sickness, or just plain old tired legs. I am still not sure but I know one thing: When it's time for us to move back to lower elevation , I won't be sad. Yeah, it's nice to train high and race low but it sucks to feel like crap during and after every single workout. And I have decided that you don't necessarily feel better after you've been up here for a few weeks (quite the opposite actually), but you just get used to the crappy feeling. So. There you have it. That's my take on living and training at 7,000 ft. that's what it looked like, minus the shirts, plus goggles Anyway. Where was I? Oh yes. My swim this morning. Italy '97 and '98 - My First Triathlon Training Camps

ready to roll in Cesenatico, Italy ('97) Sometimes, and especially after last week's HT training camp, I feel like there are a lot of things that my athlete friends don't know or realize about me. Things and experiences that shaped me and turned me into the person and athlete that I am today. There is obviously lots of room for improvement in all areas of my life but it might be interesting to see where I am coming from. '13 Kahtoola Agassiz Uphill

For the third year in a row, I participated in the awesomeness that is the Kahtoola Agassiz Uphill .  This year, with Gore-Tex as an additional sponsor and a good cause to support, we ended up with a much larger field of participants.  If you hadn't heard about it, this race is pretty unique.  The idea is to run up most of a ski hill and down again. Easy enough, right? Heh, heh, right. Unfortunately my awesome   teammate bailed on me a couple weeks before the race, but she had better things to do, like not re-injure herself by running up and down steep slopes. Fortunately, some local fast dudes ,  Eric and Brian , joined instead, and we were set. 100*100 - My First 10k in the Pool

how I was hoping to feel  Recently I decided that this was going to be the year that I was going to swim 100 * 100 meters in the pool. According to most of the blogs I have been reading lately, you've gotta to that set to be cool. Not that I care too much about being cool (or I wouldn't wear my sweat pants until 5pm and then change into pajamas) but I'm always up for a challenge.  Swim week back in January didn't cause me to cry into my goggles, so I thought maybe a nice little 10k in the pool would do it. I figured it could be my birthday swim set in October. Or maybe I could do it down in the Valley in an outdoor pool and get a sweet tan. But I decided that some company would trump everything else and so I wrote an email to Frank, our Masters Swim Coach.  I should've known. Last time my wish was granted instantly. St. George Training Week Highlights

Snow Canyon - my favorite There are a lot of highlights. The whole week was basically one big highlight .  So be prepared.  My first race of the season. T he Dogtown Half Marathon. (You can r ead my race report here .) Nothing like starting a week of training off with a little race.  Getting picked up by 4 hot guys in spandex after suffering my 5th or 6th flat tire this year. (I've lost count. First flat was on January 2nd and it seems like I have had one on every ride since then...) It was super windy and cold and we were tired from racing in the morning. Every one but Stuart and I had turned around but the two of us were determined to ride up Snow Canyon. So we did. But he dropped me and once it started raining, I figured I had plenty more days this week to prove to myself how tough I am, so I turned around. And promptly got a flat . GET BIT! Dogtown Half Marathon Race Report

Racing season is only a few short weeks away for me and Coach M decided it would be a good idea for me to run a half marathon . Just to see where I am at and to kick of the new season. We have really been taking it easy with the running to help my leg heal. (Which isn't happening by the way.) So to say I felt unprepared is an understatement. I knew I could go the distance but I also knew that it would most likely not be very much fun. I was hoping Coach M would say that she would like to see where I am at when I go 80-90% but no such luck. I was to go hard and give it everything. Within reason, of course.  Since St. George is one of my favorite places to train and race, I chose to run the: We had a nice little HT Training group racing and supporting which is always super fun.
